Job Overview

breakwater accounting + advisory corp® seeks an Implementation Associate to join our fast growing business. The Implementation Associate will be responsible for client onboarding when various technology conversions have been identified (e.g., QB Online, Bill.com, Expensify, Gusto, and other technology applications used to streamline bookkeeping and accounting functions). Technology implementation may occur at new or existing breakwater clients. The position will consist of both onsite and remote work from our Wilmington, DE office and the assigned client locations. The Implementation Associate will report to the Segment Manager, Technology Implementation/Workflow Evaluation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with or lead the workflow evaluation phase of any potential or current client to determine the best mix of technology tools required to streamline the bookkeeping function – dialing in the client’s needs and comfort with technology as well as what makes the most sense for breakwater efficiency.

  • Clearly document all new procedures step by step using the breakwater Workflow Module system; coordinate procedure documentation with input from other onboarding team members.

  • Manage the client relationship through the implementation phase and ensure a smooth transition to the assigned ongoing client team.

  • Lead training for the client and the assigned ongoing client team on the implemented technology apps and revised workflow processes.

  • Stay current on the technology apps breakwater has approved and obtain certification when required.

  • Test and research new technology applications to keep our offering current and most effective; this will be in coordination with the leaders of Operations and Client Services.

  • In conjunction with the Directors of Business Development and Client Services, identify the need for Account Specialist and/or Manager support in the onboarding phase – specifically regarding balance sheet clean-up and other catch-up work required before handing over to the assigned ongoing client team.

  • Work with Client Services to ensure all breakwater staff are informed and have clear and simple documentation and guidelines on the use of the approved tools.

  • Travel to client locations as needed

Qualifications

  • QuickBooks Online experience and other cloud technology experience preferred

  • Bookkeeping knowledge and experience preferred

  • Quick learner and comfort with technology

  • Passionate about streamlining workflow processes using technology

  • Process reengineering skills preferred.

  • Excellent procedure documentation skills.

  • Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and can work in a fast-paced environment

  • Detail oriented and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy

  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines using excellent time management skills with ease and professionalism

  • Effective problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Professional w/excellent interpersonal & organizational skills

  • Strong team player
